Non-lethal orientated training for servicemen’s personal development and civilian personal safety, or a primer for military aspirants to prepare with foundational fieldcraft and tradecraft before boot camp. Training requires no, and should not hold, weaponry in order to get the full benefit of training and thus is not restricted by institutional restrictions and can be done in the cadet’s free time for personal development. Personal “eyes on target” observation is vital for command, both in subordinate morale for demonstrating competence and courage by “getting your hands dirty” and for one’s own confirmation of on the ground details as “good to trust, better to check”, so the saying goes. This personal training can be done solo for convenience and flexibility and maintains the cadets soldiering while he focuses on more cerebral aspects of military life.
Practical exersice:
Scouting – With battle buddy, determine a location to scout. One man stands watch observing for scout. Scout gains positive identification photo while remaining unseen. Can be done solo with civilian occupied scouting objective of capturing photo of significantly hard to get object, such as number plates, equipment or locks, while avoiding being spotted by residence, workers or public (whilst heeding legal property boundaries of course).
Situational awareness – one man plans route through urban area. Battle buddy also knows route and attempts to photo first man. Both attempt to spot the other. If spotter gains photo of the other’s face it is a fail, regardless if spotter is seen, thus attempts to spot the spotter should not be overt i.e. being obvious that one is looking for threats. For enhanced training, the pursuer should be someone the perused does not know. Successful training make one a potential strategic asset to homeland defense a spotters in national emergency, and valuable skills for the likes of a neighborhood watch, or basic personal safety.
Virtual command training:
Tactical level – combat mission: shock force 2
Operational level – Command: modern operations
Both computer games can be found on the Steam gaming store and used by NATO militaries for extra remote training for commanders.
Note; Remote training not to be considered substitutes for practical experience of professional military training courses, only to aid in one’s personal development through their military career.
